Custom Developed Scholarship Solution Provides Aviation Industry Opportunities

Women In Aviation International offers their members the ability to apply for sponsored scholarships within the aviation industry as part of their benefits. There are specific dates or “cycles” when scholarships are offered and having the ability to control the entire user journey along with robust admin tools was critical to making this a success.

WAI’s needs:

1. Scholarship listings embedded in Novi website with both a short summary and optional expanded view with ability to apply.
2. Verify active membership and limit members to 3 applications per cycle.
3. Scholarship builder to customize applications.
4. Include ability to upload supporting files.
5. Member Scholarship Portal to manage and edit applications.
6. Admin Portal to manage cycles, create applications, generate and export reports, and send emails with application information and files to scholarship sponsors at the end of a cycle.

Digital Mettle’s solution:

1. Build a web application hosted in Azure using .NET, C#, and a SQL Database.
2. Custom listing widget embedded within Novi AMS website.
3. SSO to web application with ability to check whether user has already submitted 3 applications.
4. Separate portals for members and WAI admins.
5. On-demand export and management of scholarship applications and details.

Results:

WAI was able to offer members exactly what they wanted and control the entire process. WAI and their members were very happy with a smooth and easy user experience to apply and manage scholarship applications. Scholarship sponsors were able to review all the applications and select winners, providing an extremely valuable benefit to being a WAI member.
