Customer needs come in all shapes and sizes, but inevitably the first questions are “can you do it?”, “how much will it cost” and “when can it be done”. Typically these are asked way before there is enough detail understood to give any kind of accurate answers. This is the start of any development project: discovering & writing down exactly what should be built, how it will work, what it will look like, and what technologies will be used. At the end of this process, the customer owns a set of documents which any good development team will be able to execute on. This is a suitable step if the customer would like to do a formal RFP process and make sure that whichever vendor is selected, they are able to start development without delay.

Is there any question regarding the feasibility of your idea? Can the mapping software you use be connected with your CRM? Is the state of the art in facial recognition fast and accurate enough to support your mobile game concept? Let us explore and prove it one way or the other.

Internal Use Utility, Productivity Add-In, Engineering Tool, or specialized calculator

Some customers just need a small widget to increase their own productivity. This may be something which is just outside the bounds of what they can do for themselves in their desktop Office tools or other off-the-shelf products. It could be enabling data sharing between two unrelated existing systems. There are “quick & dirty” ways to accomplish these projects without costing an arm and a leg.
